You have good reasons for not being able to enjoy the book, especially if the language is causing much of the difficulty in holding your interest.

I hope what you've said about Grant holds true. Since she disappeared from social media, it's hard to gauge what's going on with her. The last I heard from her was she was painting the new house they bought.

For the July Grant, we used the hashtag #Perfectly, and for the August and September Grant, we are using #LadyAwake.Keira Soleorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14440213826734580889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34763566.post-51021809188750441532020-09-01T01:02:51.711-07:002020-09-01T01:02:51.711-07:00I’m so sorry! Maybe I can read it at least.

I’d agree re Grant except that the last time I heard what she said on this topic was that she is still writing but doesn’t have anything good enough to share yet. That was about a year ago, I think. She has also said that she is a slow writer. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Re the Julia Bennet. I’m afraid I’ve stalled in the middle of it. The plot pacing is slow, and conversely the hero and the heroine are expressing deeper feelings for each other than I’ve seen developed on the page, so the romance itself reads as rushed. The biggest problem for me though is the anachronistic language. It’s too bad because I like the heroine, her backstory and situation (with the Zvengali) are interesting and fresh, and the syntax is good too.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06329119769722713440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34763566.post-12006735820488994842020-08-20T22:18:49.701-07:002020-08-20T22:18:49.701-07:00Would you like to join us every Sunday at 11am PST...Would you like to join us every Sunday at 11am PST in our Twitter discussion of A Lady Awakened? It's Mary Lynne, Kay, and Ros Clarke so far. We would love to have your voice join us.

I feel Grant is like Ivory -- stopped writing too soon.

I am glad you are like Julia Bennet's story. I have such conflicting opinions about Martha and there is much to her yet to uncover that it elevates this book above many others. I really liked Perfectly, so it bodes well for my reading this month if you think Awakened is even better.Keira Soleorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14440213826734580889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34763566.post-64078696353891917012020-08-19T22:29:16.054-07:002020-08-19T22:29:16.054-07:00Sorry, that was me! It is probably my favorite Grant (follows closely by A Gentleman Undone). A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong is not her strongest work IMO.

The adult version of Ibram X.
