Even if you were single and independently wealthy, this would be so-so-so tough and with a family? I have no idea how she does it. I think she doesn't eat or sleep and barely breathes.

Thank you SO MUCH, Keira. You're very sweet, and even I hadn't registered how many firsts I've had this year. I think I've said it before, but seeing it in someone else's words made me feel very warm and fuzzy. And frightened. And tired. *g*
And no, I'm not organized. But I've always been good at pulling all-nighters and getting work finished just in the nick of time! And my house is... Well, let's put it this way. My hubby looked around at all the dishes on the counter yesterday (yes, the counter. The sink is already full) and said, "Um, maybe we should be using paper cups in the future." I make a home-cooked meal about once a week and then crow about it for a few days to try to extend the good will.
My God, Victoria! You are an inspiration! Frightening, but inspiring.
ReplyDeletePJ, in addition to not eating and sleeping and barely breathing, Victoria has a husband who's verrrry understanding. He even works in the house. Perhaps, HE's the one we should be thanking for this marvelous slew of creativity from Victoria. As we all know, nothing kills of creativity faster than a vacuum cleaner, a washing machine, or the dish soap.

ReplyDeleteVanessa, inspirational is right. But it's an achievement so far out of my reach that I cannot even think of what it would mean to apply it to myself.
Oh, no he does NOT work in the house. Bite your tongue! He used to work from home, but that was back when I had toddlers and was mostly using the writing excuse to get out of the house.

ReplyDeleteYou know when I make a hot breakfast? Father's Day! Sometimes his birthday. But in both instances he doesn't wake up till eleven anyway. *g* The kids eat cereal or oatmeal. Which is, technically, hot, so it looks like I'm an awesome mom after all!!!
Even *I* don't make hot breakfasts, except for oatmeal or poached eggs. The hot breakfasts are for the weekend and between Hubby and Miss Wee. They scheme, they cook, they eat. Once they added popcorn to their pancakes. (shudder)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't roasting plums on a stick by an open fire or anything troll-like. Take whole plum. Butter on the outside. Stick in dish. Roast at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Voila. Dessert.
Cooking's for the birds, eh? Hmm. That idea does have merit. However, laundry is my bete noir.
Hmm. That sounds good! I don't mind cooking so much. (Except that I lose steam after five.) It's the cooking PLUS all the dishes you make that drives me insane. Adding insult to injury. Haven't found a way to roast chicken in a paper plate yet. Though I do line pan with foil for EASIER cleaning. Also, love, love, LOVE those crock pot liners.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason for you to move to Seattle. Over here, hot, ready-to-eat roasted chicken comes skrinked-wrapped at the grocery store. Heats very nicely on a paper plate.
