Love these pictures! I grew up on the windward side of Oahu (in Kailua) and could easily get to the beach to watch the sun rise. Alas, watching the sun set meant being on the other side of the mountains in Honolulu (or Makaha or elsewhere) at the right time. Didn't happen often enough. So I treasure these pictures that remind me of those occasions when the timing was right.
Thank you for enabling the stroll down memory lane.
Ohhhhh, Barb! What it must be like to see this with you own eyes. Photographs, no matter how skilled the photographer, no matter how skilled the equipment can never appreciate the nuance that human eyes can. I'm glad to know that you were able to savor sunrises for real.
With sunrises or sunsets, timing is everything, isn't it? Look over there for a bit, and you miss it. And sometimes, it feels like you shouldn't even blink.
