The 10-10-10-10-10 Reading Challenge
This year, I'll be taking The 10-10-10-10-10 Reading Challenge. It involves reading ten books in ten categories by 10th October 2010. I'm modifying this ambitious undertaking by reading any number of books in ten categories other than the ones I normally read in with the end date being the end of the year. Also, the overarching aim is to reduce the to-be-read (TBR) mountain.
Here are my categories:
—Food as Central Theme
—Biography, Memoir
—Mystery, Crime, Thriller
—Elevating Snobby Fiction
—Epistolary
—Travel
—Mythological Fairytale
—In French
—Writing Craft
—Spiritual, Organization
Have you heard of this challenge? Is this something you'd want to do? If you're already signed up, what are your categories, and do you and I have any categories in common?

Wow, Keira, I didn't know you read French. You're full of mysteries! I haven't signed up for this - but I have to say one of the things I miss about living near a library is that I was much more adventurous with my reading choices then than I am now. I used to regularly pick up things from the new release shelf just to give them a go. Good luck with the challenge!
Well, I'm barely literate in the language and talking is soooo-soooo. Luckily for me, the French are very understanding. They allow me to cheerfully murder their tongue, ocassionally correcting, but replying back respectfully.
I agree with you about libraries inspiring reading inventiveness. These days, I read my auto-buy authors and recs from people. Given than I spend most of my time in Romancelandia, my reading dovetails with my interest and I'm reading mostly romance. This year, I want to branch out again and read in other categories a bit more.
