In the Presence of Greatness

Yesterday, I was in the presence of greatness. In other words, I get to write a second post this week and name-drop with impunity.

Mrs. PerfectOdd Mom OutI was at a bookstore I've been going to for 12 years now, for the release of Jane Porter's newest modern lit Mrs. Perfect. "Where's a fairy godmother when you need one?" Mrs. Perfect follows the story of Taylor Young, first introduced in Odd Mom Out.

Frog Prince
Flirting with FortyWhen Jane's first modern lit Frog Prince was optioned for film rights, her career took off. The Seattle publishing community has watched with pride as one of their own came to first national, then international attention. Jane just returned from Hawaii where Lifetime TV was filming Odd Mom Out. Watch for it on your telly in December.

Elizabeth BoyleNew York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Boyle needs no introduction. This goddess of organization and talent has such a delightful laugh, she keeps you in stitches all the time.

Emily CotlerI can now say, "I have hugged the remarkable, the spectacular, the only Emily Cotler." She is creative director extraordinaire of the highly successful Wax Creative, owner of the Autographed by the Author stickers company, and author of the book Web ReDesign 2.0. In ten years, she's revolutionized the art and function of websites for book writers.

Judith LaikAs I stood in the incredibly long line to get my book signed, I was delighted to see beloved Pacific Northwest writer Judith Laik. As the line moved slowly, she and I caught up with each other's lives since we'd met last at Dallas. We reminisced about one of my closest friends author Diane Gaston, talked of the Royal Ascot contest, and the hilarious entries she's judged over the years. Judith is the member of longest standing (since 1986) with the Greater Seattle chapter of RWA.

After Jane's hilarious speech at the bookstore and the autographing, I mingled with the local Who's Who of published authors, designers and publicists, and aspiring writers at Ooba's: Susanna Carr / Jenesi Ash, Shannon MacKelden, Serena Robar, Dona Sarkar-Mishra, Lee Hyat, Christina Arbini, Erin Eisenberg, Kelli Estes. Powered by chocolatinis and petit-fours, talk was lively and laughter plentiful. Jane sure throws a rolicking good party!

how nice to be mentioned in a post with such lovely ladies. And to be called a close friend! Isn't it funny how this can happen due to the internet. I love the internet.

Jane's story is so inspiring. I can just hear her name and want to smile. She's proof that if you don't give up, you can have your dream!

Wow,Keira! You've had quite the week. It sounds fabulous.

I'm looking forward to being able to write in just a few short weeks that I have met, in person, my sweet, intelligent, supremely talented and absolutely delightful cyber friend, Keira! :)

Hi Keira! Jane's party was wonderful, wasn't it?! And just think...we have more fun to look forward to in San Francisco. You're going aren't you?

Diane, heaps of cyber hugs for you. Wish July would come quicker.

Jane is amazing. One of her many firsts after she turned forty was to learn surfing. WOW! I can't even imagine how much power and control that requires. I have only seen teen boys do it. But Jane as usual had to beat the odds and succeed.

Christina and Kelli: Rhanks muchly for stopping by my blog, ladies. It was such fun meeting you two. Tuesday's going to be a fun get meeting with a full house and an inspiring speaker. And oh yes, I'm going to National. Last year was my first, and I cannot dream of missing that experience. I bought my plane tickets in Jan. Heh. :)

((PJ)), my wonderful friend. I've been having quite the week/ten days. First there was the Lisa Kleypas book reading, then the Stella Cameron reading, and now Jane Porter's. WOW! All these fabulous people in one sentence. I feel blessed for where I live.

PJ, yes, we're set for our trip to Charlotte on the dates I Facebook'd you. I'll e-mail you my cell number. BTW, are you talking about someone else? That doesn't sound like me. :)

Well, shucks. That is just a sweet thing to say. I had a fabulous time at the signing and party, and Keira, you are such a doll to hang out with -- you're the one who is great! And Jane, of course, too, who hostessed the wonderful event. Photos will be going up on her site tomorrow!

And hi hi hi to Diane! Anyone who wants to read more about Diane Gaston's fun site can pop over to the .

Cheers Keira... your signing party will be soon!

--sorry about the repost. I had a keystroke out of place and the link code was wrong. Hate that!

Ack, did it again. Well, even us designers have off keystroke days.
