My TBB List for Aug & Sept

I just returned from RWA with two boxes of books. And yet, here I am, buying books. Well, yes. I'm shameless, I read fast, I cannot have my TBR bookcase be even slightly empty.

So here's what I have on my list that I'm going to send off to Amazon as a one-time deal towards the end of August. It includes new releases for August and September. It also includes books from earlier in the year that I hadn't gotten around to reading, books on an author's backlist that I'm working through, and a few quirky additions.

  • "Siren of the Seas" by Tessa Dare
  • "A Lady of Persuasion" by Tessa Dare
  • "Never Love a Lawman" by Jo Goodman
  • "Easy on the Eyes" by Jane Porter
  • "Knight of Desire" by Margaret Mallory
  • "The Maiden's Hand" by Susan Wiggs
  • "At the King's Command" by Susan Wiggs
  • "Just Breathe" by Susan Wiggs
  • "Written on Your Skin" by Meredith Duran
  • "Tempt Me at Twilight" by Lisa Kleypas
  • "To Tempt a Knight" by Gerri Russell
  • "The Most Wicked of Sins" by Kathryn Caskie
  • "The Last Hellion" by Loretta Chase
  • "When a Texan Gambles" by Jodi Thomas
  • "Winter Fire" by Jo Beverley
  • "A Most Unsuitable Man" by Jo Beverley
  • "His Captive Lady" by Carol Townend
  • "A Handful of Manhood" by Gaby Hauptmann (German author)
  • "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown
  • "The Templar, the Queen and Her Lover: A Knights Templar Mystery" by Michael Jecks
  • "Breakout Novel" by Donald Maas
  • "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon" by Grace Lin
  • "A Picture History of the Grenville Family of Rosedale House by Mary Yelloly Aged Eight and a Half Years Old" text by Lindsey Stainton

What's on your list? Do you buy your books at Amazon? Or do you usually wait to buy on the release date from a brick-n-mortar store? If you do buy at Amazon or another online bookstore, do you simply put in a large order days in advance and then read as Amazon sends them?

Thanks so much for ordering my book!
I usually buy from Amazon for gifts so they'll do the shipping. For research books, I also use Amazon. But for pleasure reading for myself, I like to go to a bookstore. I don't want to wait, & I like brouse & touch the books. :)

I meant "browse," not "brouse." Embarrassing.

Margaret, welcome to the blog and thanks for commenting. I received a rec to your book from one of the Tweeple I follow. Looking forward to reading it.

I can definitely understand the see-touch-smell-aahhhh feeling to new books that you can only get in a bookstore.

Keira, I am an Amazon fan myself, but also browse and buy from an actual B&N store. I just can't get away from the overwhelming magic that hits me when I walk into a museum of books.

Amazon has perks too. I pre-ordered Gerri Russell's To Tempt a Knight from Amazon and it shipped early. I'm reading it now and love it!

I've just bought Wolf Hall from Amazon as a treat to myself. It's a historical novel by Hilary Mantel and is shortlisted for the Booker Prize. It's a looong time since I've read a Booker book but this one is set in the sixteenth century and is about Thomas Cromwell and I couldn't resist. I hope you enjoy your haul, Keira!

Folks, thank you so much for visiting and commenting on the blog. I'm replying to the comments here a bit late since I was away on a family emergency.

April, welcome to the blog! Nothing beats the walk through the door: the sight, the fragrance, the colors, the riffle of pages, and the finger-caresses of the covers. It's a sensorial experience.

Glad you enjoyed Gerri Russell's newest; mine's still in the mail. If you're in the Seattle area, you don't want to miss her release party on Sept 1 at the Bellevue Barnes & Noble. The Seattle Knights will be demonstrating a fight in full armor.

Kel, as you know, LK's are always among the most hotly anticipated books for me. I loved, loved, loved Cam and Merripen's stories.

Nicola, I went up to Amazon and checked out "Wolf Hall" by Hilary Mantel, and promptly changed my book order in progress to add this one, too. Luckily, they hadn't locked it yet. A few hours later, and I would've had to wait for my next book order.
