The Winsor List: My 16 Favorite Romances

Jessica @Racy Romance Reviews is running The Winsor List meme on her blog today. Posting our favorite 16 romances on October 16 is an eminently suitable activity, given that it's the birthdate of romance great Kathleen Winsor (1919–2003). Her first book Forever Amber was published in 1944; the reissue from 2000 is still in print.

Here's my list of sixteen of my top romances in no particular order...

1. Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
2. Flirting with Forty by Jane Porter
3. Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas
4. For My Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale
5. Untouched by Anna Campbell
6. Simply Magic by Mary Balogh
7. Never Love a Lawman by Jo Goodman
8. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
9. A Duke of Her Own by Eloisa James
10. Tall Dark and Texan by Jodi Thomas
11. The Passionate One by Connie Brockway
12. Devilish by Jo Beverley
13. Ransom by Julie Garwood
14. Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James
15. Where Serpents Sleep by C.S. Harris
16. Just Breathe by Susan Wiggs

What does your list of Fave 16 contain?

Hey, Miss Keira, that's some seriously powerful company you've put me in. Thank you! Great list.

Hey Kiera,
Great list! I'm glad somebody else put on Practice Makes Perfect.

Hey, we have some overlap, Sugar Daddy and Never Love a Lawman. Plus I could easily have put your choices instead of mine for Julia Quinn and Eloisa James. Every book on your list that I've read, I love -- and I have Anna Campbell in my TBR pile, too.

Thanks for playing!

Visiting from RRR :)

I can't believe you have Flirting With Forty on your list! I feel like no one has read it and it's so good! I mean it is more chick/women's lit but still. I was really excited you have that one - it was such a fabulous book.

Great list, you make me want to get some more books haha.

Fo, you cannot not be on any of my faves list.

Carolyn, SonomaLass, Kate, and Vivian: Welcome to my blog, and thanks for commenting.

Carolyn, Julie James was a surprise for me. Till I read it, I would never have thought I would've liked her style. I gobbled it up in one sitting, ordered her first for overnight delivery, and gobbled that up the next day. Since then, I've been harassing her on her blog for her third.

SonomaLass, this was such a fabulous idea. I've loved to see titles I loved on others' lists and then learning about author I'd not heard of. Goodman's western was super!! I'm still processing it. What I said above about Julie James is true about Lisa Kleypas's Sugar Daddy. I dragged by feet for months, letting it sit on my TBR shelf. And then afterwards, I could've smacked myself for having waited so long.

Kate, JQ is always a favorite because she can takes difficult subjects and tackles them with a wit and verwe that I admire and believe in.

Vivian, FWF made me into a Jane Porter fan. I'll read anything she writes in that vein, and she has completely sold me on everything that followed. Sometimes though, I find Odd Mom Out competing with FWF for the best of JP. However, knowing JP's personal life, FWF will always be on one of my top lists.

Vivian, count me in as another Flirting with Forty fan! It's such a great book. I think Jane's great - I love her Harlequins too.

Wow--like Anna, I'm honored to be included amongst this company! Thanks so much, Keira. And you can harass me all you want about Something About You. ;-)
